We worked with Fora Space on the complete refurbishment of this sprawling, seven-storey brutalist building in Portland Place. Constructed in 1964 to house a hotel and the BBC’s Research and Development teams, today it is home to a 70,000 square foot co-working space. Both the furniture and the key design features echo the building’s era but have been subtly updated to breathe new life into the space. There is a striking new entrance to the building. The interiors are bright and contemporary, with beautifully restored period terrazzo floors in the lift lobbies and renovated parquet floors. The ground floor boasts an airy, sophisticated cafe filled with lush planting and a custom tiled wall by Studio GdB, which acts as a backdrop to the bespoke bar counter by Huguet Mallorca. Across all the breakout spaces, visitors will notice stunning mid-century fabric panels by family-run British heritage brand Tibor paired with custom rugs by Totzke.
